Elmwood caters not only to the fitness needs of adults, but also to the needs of children. Children in our Y2Kids Program can participate in a wide variety of classes designed just for them - weight training, cycling, cardio kickboxing and more. We have 11 pieces of weight training equipment and eight cycling bikes custom-made for children. Our instructors are certified personal trainers, exercise physiologists or have experience working with children. The Y2Kids Program is appropriate for children of any skill level, as well as those with special needs or limitations.
Programs and Services Include:
- Weight training certification for children ages 12-13 years. Children will learn to use weight machines, free weights, techniques and weight room etiquette. After certification, children 12 and 13 may use the adult weight room during certain hours. (Children must be accompanied by an adult in the adult weight room.)
- Personal training for children ages 6-13 years; 30 minute or one hour sessions available for groups or individuals.
- Y2Kids Field Trips: Mix fun and fitness on your next field trip. Enjoy a variety of physical activities designed for children ages 7 and up including cycling, kickboxing, weight training and more. There is a 20 child minimum on field trips.

A weight loss program for children ages 8-17. Elmwood’s new “I Can Do It” Program is designed to get your child (and the whole family) started on a new, healthier lifestyle. This program will introduce you and your child to healthy habits that can lead to a lifetime of fitness and health. “I Can Do It” combines physical activity and nutrition – both essential elements in losing body fat and maintaining a healthy weight. Children will increase their strength and endurance in a fun and positive atmosphere.
The 12-week after-school program for children ages 8-17 includes:
36 weight training sessions 4 guest speakers 2 nutrition consultations Healthy cooking demonstration
